Hello, readers! My name is Jep, and I'm excited to share my working experience at Optix Solutions. I'm 16 years old, and I've had the opportunity to work here for the past three weeks. It has been an amazing journey of personal growth and professional development. In this blog post, I want to take you through my experiences, the challenges I've faced, and the lessons I've learned along the way.
Optix is a well-known digital marketing company that takes pride in its inclusive work environment. From the moment I joined the team, my colleagues welcomed me warmly and offered their support. They encouraged me to share my ideas and perspectives, making me feel like I belonged. This inclusive atmosphere motivated me to do my best every day.
Before the experience started, I was nervous that I would meet very demanding people, or even boring people. I was also afraid of feeling unimportant, since in these cases I feel frustrated. On my first day at the office, I sat at my desk, in front of Lucy, who immediately showed me her friendly personality, and who also can speak Spanish, which made communication much more fluid for me. This made adjusting to the place much easier and more comfortable. I quickly noticed the friendly environment in the work space. They always had soft music playing in the background and from time to time someone would bring snacks for everyone.
Another highlight of my experience at Optix Solutions was the opportunity to work with Alastair. He assigned me several tasks throughout my 3 weeks. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of responsibility and trust he placed in me, considering my age and lack of prior professional experience. Alastair provided me with interesting projects that challenged me and allowed me to develop new skills. He was always willing to give me positive feedback on the work I had done, which made me even more motivated to work with him. Under his guidance, I not only completed the tasks successfully but also gained valuable insights into the marketing industry.
One of the main challenges I encountered during my time at Optix Solutions was overcoming the age barrier. Being a young employee in a professional setting brought its own doubts and insecurities. However, the team at Optix Solutions recognised my potential and provided me with guidance and mentorship to help me navigate these challenges. Their belief in me boosted my confidence and allowed me to contribute effectively to the company's projects and initiatives.
