In 2010, we were approached by the forward-thinking Directors at Grainge Architects Ltd to work with them on the redesign and development of their online presence.
As one of the South West’s leading architectural practices, they wanted a site that would offer prospective customers insight into the scale and nature of their work, while reflecting their strong body of experience in many sectors.
It was paramount that their entire team were able to easily update any area of the site, including the ability to build custom online portfolios of projects for prospective customers, as and when required.
Working closely with the Directors at Grainge Architects, our first step was to thoroughly understand their requirements and how the site would need to work on a day-to-day basis. Crucial to this understanding was a visit to their office to learn more about what goes into each of their projects and uncover how we could incorporate elements of their offline presence into their new online space.
During our time with the Directors we learnt that when designing a project the team at Grainge Architects use a number of different mediums to showcase their designs, including artist’s impressions, computer-aided design (CAD) drawings and even physical models. From this, we understood it was imperative that the site retained the flexibility to showcase not only the finished project, but also the story of how it came to be. To achieve this we built a bespoke website which would allow the Grainge Architects team to have complete control over all of the information related to a project – including the order by which images would appear in and whether or not a project should be featured in a sector. We also incorporated a gallery into their site, mirroring the one they have in their meeting room to help showcase some of their best work and integrated a blog into the site which allows the entire team at Grainge Architects to not only be a part of the web presence, but demonstrate the expertise available in-house through informative and added-value blog articles.
While the site functionality is relatively complex, we had to ensure that when restructuring the site it was still easy to navigate. We are incredibly proud of the finished project and encourage each and every one of you to take a look. Click here to go to their website
Before we sign off, we have to give special thanks to the Directors at Grainge Architects and Architectural Assistant Tom Spriggs. Throughout the development process, each of the Directors were heavily involved in all aspects of the project and as our main contact Tom ensured we had everything we needed from the team at Grainge Architects.
