Somerlap is a manufacturer and retailer of high quality garden products ranging from fences to furniture. Currently the company doesn’t sell products online but this is set to change. As with many manufacturers in the UK, Somerlap have a great opportunity to extend the reach of their operation through the medium of the web. The crucial question though is how are they going to ensure their move into the online marketplace is a success?
When this question was posed to Kelly Jones, Somerlap’s Office Manager, she suggested the key to the businesses success online would be down to simplicity of user experience. The products that Somerlap sell are of a high quality; they effectively sell themselves. Kelly went on to say the website needs to support the delivery of a great product ‘quickly via a simple to use system’ and this would leave the customer thinking ‘wow that was great service’. This level of service will subsequently encourage the customer to return to the site as a repeat customer, without the need for an aggressive follow up communications strategy.
It sounds as if Kelly has got a very good idea of how to build the Somerlap brand online and we’re all therefore very excited to see their new online shop in the near future.
